CoWN Youth Board

Empowering the Next Generation of Horsemen and Horsewomen

The Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska Stock Horse Association (CoWN) is proud to announce the formation of the CoWN Youth Board — a team of young leaders ready to learn, lead, and make a difference in our horse community.

Purpose

The CoWN Youth Board gives youth members a voice in our organization while helping them grow as riders, leaders, and community members. Members gain hands-on experience in leadership, event planning, and outreach — all while having fun and connecting with fellow horse enthusiasts.

Objectives

  • Create meaningful opportunities for youth leadership and involvement
  • Develop communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Promote horsemanship, sportsmanship, and community service
  • Encourage youth-led events and ideas
  • Build a strong foundation of future CoWN leaders

Who Can Join

  • Ages 12–18 (with opportunities for junior mentors ages 9–11 and collegiate mentors ages 19–21)

  • Active CoWN member in good standing

  • Passionate about horses, leadership, and teamwork

What Youth Board Members Do

  • Attend monthly or quarterly meetings (virtual or in person)

  • Plan and help run youth-focused events, clinics, or community projects

  • Represent youth members at CoWN events and meetings

  • Serve as positive ambassadors for CoWN

Selection & Term

  • Applications accepted annually

  • Optional interviews with advisors

  • One-year term (January–December)

  • Members may reapply or run for a new role the following year
