CoWN Community Chest
Founded by Dr. Abbie Ferris
Because sometimes, even the best horsemen and horsewomen need a little help along the trail.
The CoWN Community Chest, founded by Dr. Abbie Ferris, was created to support members of the Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska Stock Horse Association (CoWN) in times of need — whether that’s a flat tire, a small vet bill, a bag of feed, or just an extra hand when life gets tough.
It’s not about handouts. It’s about helping our own.
Purpose
The CoWN Community Chest exists to provide short-term, practical support — financial or in-kind — to members experiencing unexpected challenges that impact their ability to care for their horses or participate in CoWN activities.
Support may include:
Fuel, lodging, or small travel emergencies
Entry fee assistance for youth riders
Feed or hay donations
Farrier or veterinary help
Tack or equipment replacement
Volunteer time, hauling help, or other services offered by fellow members
How It Works
Ask or Nominate: Members can request help for themselves or nominate another CoWN member.
Quick, Kind Review: A small, confidential committee reviews requests and matches needs with available funds, supplies, or volunteers.
Ride On: Support is provided discreetly — no fuss, no judgment, just community.
How You Can Help
Donate: Contribute funds, supplies, or services to the CoWN Community Chest.
Volunteer: Join our list of helpers who can offer hauling, labor, or mentorship.
Sponsor: Businesses or individuals can sponsor the program or donate items for auction or raffle.
Every act of generosity — big or small — helps keep our community strong.
