To be eligible to show in Non-Pro division, you must affirm the following:

I affirm that within the past 5 years:

1.       I have not received payment for riding, training, assisting in training, or showing horses.

2.       I have not received payment for instructing, coaching, or conducting clinics related to riding, training, or showing.

3.       I have not had expenses (lodging, transportation, mileage, etc.) paid by anyone other than family.

Exceptions:

  • Clinics are permitted if payment only covers reasonable expenses.

  • Collegiate members are exempt from items 2 and 3 while enrolled in an equine program.

  • Premium money won is not considered remuneration.

  • A Non-Pro may show in Open Division if eligibility rules remain met.

I understand that eligibility verification is my responsibility and that I must inform COWN of any status change within 30 days. The CoWN Board's eligibility decisions are final.

Non-Pro Eligibility

NOVICE/NOVICE YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE/NP BOXING ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS

 The guidelines provided below are a brief description of each divisions qualifications. Further descriptions and details can be found in the SHTX rulebook. It is your responsibility to ensure you are in the appropriate division. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of prizes and/or winnings.

Novice:
No champion or reserve titles in SHTX, ≤5 breed points or <$250 in national western performance events.

 Level 1 Novice:
Meets Novice criteria and has not placed top 10 all-around, earned breed points, or winnings in judged western performance events.

Non-Pro Boxing:
Eligibility per NRCHA rules. Must have less than $750 total earnings in divisions including fence work across organizations (e.g., AQHA VRH, NRSHA). To verify eligibility, request a report from EquiStat.

 Intermediate:
Has not won 2 combinations of champion/reserve titles or Year-End all-around/class awards in SHTX, or equivalent; ≤10 breed points or <$500 in national western performance events.

 Youth Novice:
No more than 2 champion/reserve titles or 10 breed points, or <$500 in national western performance events.

 Note: If eligibility is lost mid-year, members may complete the current season in that division. Stallions are prohibited in Novice, L1, Intermediate, and Youth divisions.
