Board Planning Update: Looking Ahead Together At the January Board meeting, the Board participated in a strategic planning session using a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). This discussion helped guide future planning and identify areas where CoWN is thriving, as well as areas where we can continue to grow and improve. Our Strengths CoWN benefits from an exclusive, community-focused environment with a positive and engaged membership. We are proud of our strong reputation for hosting high-quality, well-run shows that continue to grow in turnout each year. Key strengths include our supportive and responsive Board, a dedicated Youth Board, strong relationships with colleges and SHTX, clinics offered at shows, early publication of the show schedule, and sound financial stewardship. Above all, the Board remains committed to doing what is best for the membership. Areas for Growth The Board also identified several challenges we aim to address, including increasing sponsorship support, improving the timeliness of results, strengthening communication, and expanding our social media presence. Other areas of focus include increasing youth and collegiate participation, developing a clearer show budget, improving show software, and managing Board workload. Geographic limitations—being concentrated primarily in northern Colorado—were also discussed as an opportunity to reach additional members farther south. Opportunities Ahead There are many exciting opportunities for CoWN moving forward. These include expanding relationships with colleges, offering more clinics at shows, increasing weekend shows, growing youth and collegiate involvement, and pursuing donations and sponsorships. With Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, and VRH classes continuing to grow in popularity, there is potential to expand class offerings. Additional advertising, collaboration with RMQHA, and better visibility of Board members were also identified as ways to strengthen member engagement. Potential Challenges As CoWN continues to grow, the Board will remain mindful of potential challenges such as securing facilities that can accommodate larger shows, rising costs, longer show days, and broader economic pressures. Balancing growth while preserving the experience our members value remains a top priority. 2026 Goals Looking ahead to 2026, the Board’s goals include retaining and growing membership, strengthening sponsor relationships through intentional outreach and appreciation, educating members on the roles and responsibilities of the Board, and continuing efforts to shorten and streamline Board meetings. We appreciate the continued support and engagement of our members as we work together to move CoWN forward.
